Dental Quacks- Street Dentist

We have so many dental quacks floating around, doing unethical practice. These street dentists often visit villages on their bicycle with a bag consisting of some pliers, screwdrivers, dividers, self-acrylic materials. They basically deal with denture fabrication and mobile extractions. Quackery is a derogatory term used to describe the fraudulent misrepresentation of the diagnosis and treatment of disease. It is the practice of unproven, ineffective medicine, usually in order to make money or to maintain a position of power. 

I have come across so many cases of malpractice. People inserted wires in open pulp chambers. A patient came whose upper denture was retained using M- seal. Direct acrylic restorations are so common. 

I wish people develop some sense and visit qualified dentist. Amen! 

How much is too much?

We have a habit of sulking endlessly…small things bother us…Our threshold to pain is so less… “We live in a cocooned world”… but pause… think… there are people who have no options at times..

I have seen gross cases in clinics. Blood does not shock me anymore. The worst part of being a doctor is that your emotions mitigate or may be die. But at times it it tough even for a doctor.

This case was one of them.

Patient met with an accident. He had multiple fracture. Due to which he had open bite, means he was not able to close his mouth.

I will not go into details. 

So the patient could not close his mouth…   Due to fracture, there was a lot of bleeding. Hence, blood was a good source of nourishment….For the eggs that house fly had laid in patient’s mouth….  Yes u read correct.

These eggs change into larvae(maggots) in a day.

So can u imagine maggots in  mouth??  Crawling & destructing??

Patient was in acute trauma…  it was a torture for him. Although, he was operated.

He is fine now. But I wanted to share it with you all.

This case was agonizing for me.There is so much suffering around. :(
